Introduction to Autobiography of Major B. C. Nickelson

Major B. C. Nickelson was the father of Sharon's paternal grandmother, Maggie Nickelson Smith.

He published an autobiographical pamphlet. The copyright date says 1928. However, the pamphlet contains a picture whose caption states that it was taken in 1934.

We have converted the pamphlet to this web version.

His obituary was titled, "Oldest Confederate In Dallas Is First Hot Weather Victim" He died in 1934.

At New General Catalog of Old Books and Authors, I found the following reference:

Bescac Charles NICKELSON {US} (M: 1862 Mar 29 - 1934 Jun 25)
A Brief Sketch Of The Life Of An Ex-Confederate Soldier [a|1928]

At Rosanna Blake Library of Confederate History, I found the following reference:

Nickelson, B.C. "A Brief Sketch of the Life of a Confederate Soldier & the Ups & Downs during Pioneer & Indian Warfare in Texas." Dallas, Tex., Stellmacher & Clark, 1928, 16mo, 16pp. Print of 1932 on portrait page. Some copies spell author B.C. Nicholson. (WN 136)
